Anders Beyer graduated in musicology from the Institute of Musicology, University of Copenhagen in 1985. Beyer has worked as a critic on the national daily newspaper, Information, and he has been the editor of Dansk Musik Tidsskrift (Danish Music Review) and Nordic Sounds. He has taught twentieth-century music history at the University of Copenhagen, and he is a consultant and writer for The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart (MGG). Beyer is editor of the book “The Music of Per Nørgård. Fourteen Interpretative Essays” (Scolar Press 1996). His book “The Voice of Music. Conversations with Composers of Our Time” (Ashgate 2001) comprises articles on 22 composers including Ligeti, Stockhausen, Xenakis, Gubaidulina, Glass, Lindberg, Saariaho, Nørgård and Nordheim. He has lectured at universities in USA, Corea, Russia, Norway, Germany, England, Ireland. Beyer has published numerous articles on centemporary music in Danish and international periodicals.
