Andreas Fosdal was employed as solo oboist in the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003. In 2005 he performed as solo oboist at his debut from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Here he performed a program containing Richard Strauss’ oboe concert and the first performance of Morten Olsen’s Mercury, which is an oboe concert composed for Fosdal. Andreas Fosdal studied with Bjørn Carl Nielsen, and took further education with Albrecht Meyer in Berlin.
Andreas Fosdal is an active soloist and chamber musician playing with a diverse range of ensembles such as Copenhagen Youth Strings, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and the chamber orchestra Galanteana, of which he is co-founder. Andreas Fosdal has received Jacob Gade’s grantlarge, the Sonning Foundation’s Scholarship and van Hauen’s grant.
