Instrument: violin
Despite his young age Jakob Lund Nielsen has already distinguished himself with his great commitment to contemporary classical music. At the tender age of four he started playing violin by the Suzuki method. Having completed a basal course at the Århus School of Music as well as one year of studies under Danish violin virtuoso Anker Buch, Jakob was accepted at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Jakob has recently completed his Bachelor’s degree with top marks and his currently studying for his Master’s degree as a violinist.
Jakob is part of a duo-cooperation with pianist Alexander McKenzie as well as the piano trio Trio Vitruvi with cellist Jacob LaCour and Alexander McKenzie and has also participated in the National Danish Youth Ensemble as the concertmaster. Jakobs great interest in new music has manifested itself in his close cooperation with students within Composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and in his participation in the festival {PLIIINGGG..}; a festival for three young composers in which the London Sinfonietta participated, among others.
Jakob has won contests all over the country, he was winner of the Jacob Gade Violin Contest 06 and most recently winner of the Danish-Swedish contest Øresund Soloist in 2008.
