Kirstine Futtrup – Violin

Kirstine Futtrup started playing the violin at the age of 4 with Tove and Bela Detreköy at the Danish Suzuki-institute. In 1995 Kirstine studied with Professor Milan Vitek and won the gold medal in the Berlingske Tidende Classical Music Competition. Further studies with Professors Peder Elbæk, Gerhard and Ulla Schulz in Vienna, and Almita Vamos and Roland Vamos in Oberlin, Ohio. In 2003 Kirstine won the violin competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and received the Jacob Gade Award and the Sony Talent Award. She made her debut as soloist from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in February 2006.

In 1998 Kirstine founded the Paizo Quartet. Until 2007, the quartet performed at distinguished festivals and halls such as the Wigmore Hall London, the Vienna Musikverein and the Lincoln International Chamber Music Festival. and won numerous awards such as: 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the 2000 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition, the 2001 Bela Bartok Prize in Reichenau and both 1st Prize and Grand Prize in the 2003 Melbourne Chamber Music Competition.

Kirstine has played as soloist with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Copenhagen Festival Orchestra and The Royal Danish Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. Since 2006, Kirstine is the concertmaster of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen. Since 2008, she has appeared regularly as soloist with the Copenhagen Philharmonic.
