Instrument: Everything it is possible to strike, no matter what make or year
Mathias Friis-Hansen graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and studied at the Royal College of Music, London. Whilst abroad Matthias was member of the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester where he often worked with Pierre Boulez. In 2003 Claudio Abbado invited him to play in the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. Hence affiliated to the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
In Danish music life Matthias performs with all the orchestras on a regular basis, in chamber music collectives and with his own percussion trio PACE. PACE won the second price at the Danish Radio Chamber Music Competition 2002. Furthermore Mathias performed as a soloist in Latvia, Denmark and Scandinavia, amongst others during the Ultima Festival in Oslo.
